There are a wide variety of travellers cheques available including American Express, Thomas Cook and Visa. Overall, travellers cheques are poor value compared to debit cards as they often have higher commission charges and poorer rates of exchange. Euro travellers' cheques are good value if you are travelling through European countries but US dollar travellers cheques are better value in other continents. Americal Express travellers cheques also offer the added benefit of a 24 hour worldwide replacement service if the cheques have been lost or stolen. |
